Blue Topaz was created for my mom for a Christmas present in 2007. I had the idea to make her while visiting my parents, because my mother is into making jewelry. She gave me the gems used for this pony. Her main design uses blue topazes (hence the name); her "necklace" is made of garnets (a quote from the Outlander series kept coming to mind: "Garnets rest in love around my neck. I will be faithful."); and her "ring" is a large hematite and two more blue topazes. I'm not sure what the pink jewel on her forehead is. The larger "topaz" in her hip is from her original incarnation as a March Mischief. All the jewels were laid in with Apoxie Sculpt to hold them down, and then gold paint was used to paint the "settings" and the necklace links and ring. Finally, her hair is Dollyhair's Sunlight and Starlight, because it resembles the 24-karat gold and sterling silver used in jewelry settings. After these pictures were taken, I curled her hair in ringlets, which came out looking very shiny. Even her eyes are painted in metallics: I used Iron Wind's Steel for the lashes and irishes. She now resides with my mom.
